How To Wear Tribal Prints

And tribal prints – think strong energetic vibrant geometric patterns and batik – are just the ticket this summer. Missoni, Etro and Diane von Furstenberg all played around with tribal prints for their SS11 collection. Get it right and you’re talking full-on diva statement fashion. There are a few ways to approach tribal prints. The most straight forward is to go for a fabulous dress and pair it with neutral flat sandals or eye-popping colour heels – we’re thinking bright neon pink courts for maximum impact. The next option is to choose a print separate – shorts, top or skirt – and team with a neutral (white, creams, tans, black) and/or denim, for a bit of rock n’ roll edge. The last option – and possibly the most difficult – is to team your print with a contrasting print. Sounds mad? But yes, it can be done! Try clashing with narrow stripes – just make sure the stripe ties in shade-wise with a colour on the main print. Then of course, the easy way out is to go throw on a few accessories, but don’t be too tame, this is fashion to have fun with!
