Clarks Originals get remixed for AW12Last week I was invited to a fashion industry press day where lots of brands were showcased – and I was quite surprised by the new collection that caught my eye. Clarks has really pushed the boat out with its autumn/winter Originals design and created a range of footwear that is cool and contemporary with a big, fat nod to tradition.

Everyone is going to go Great Britain crazy over the next few months with the Diamond Jubilee and London Olympics taking place, but Clarks aren’t jumping on the summer bandwagon. The AW12 Originals Remixed Collection reflects the fact that Clarks is always proud to be a British brand and has achieved a brilliant reworking of some of its classic designs to prove it.

Clarks invented desert trek boots 40-years ago and to celebrate the anniversary the new collection includes ladies designs with wedge heels (the Yarrabee) and a trek-inspired shoe with traditional butted seam but a modern-sculpted heel (the Serin Snow). Collaborations are big news in this collection too with design input and inspiration from Trojan Records, Jaguar Shoes, Wyoming’s Rocky Mountain Featherbed, Swedish label Velour and Harris Tweed.

I’m determined to get a pair of Serin Snow shoes when the collection is available – let us know which design you like best. Shop all of Clarks current range here.

These pictures have already been shown on Fashion Detective’s site over a week ago.

  3. Hi Angela.

Not sure if you know but I *am* the Fashion Detective…I’m also head of fashion for Style Compare (and author of this post), so sometimes the events I go to cross over and Style Compare are using my photography with permission.

    Thanks for commenting. Jo

Yep, I realise you’re the author of Fashion Detective as I read the blog, but I just wondered why old content has been published/repeated.

  5. I know the world of blogging is fast-moving, but original photography taken a week ago isn’t what I would class as “old”!!! Some photographs (particularly fashion images) are republished year-upon-year. Also, the copy is original.

Whereas Fashion Detective is a personal blog that I can update immediately, at Style Compare we have an editorial schedule and a queue of blog posts waiting to go out, so sometimes it might take a day or two for the content to appear – and do remember that not everyone who uses Style Compare also reads Fashion Detective (you may be the only one!)

If you are really troubled by this and want to have a chat, do feel free to email me. If you read the blog you’ll know how to get in touch.

    Jo
